RESPIRATORY

OSTEOPATHY

In 2023 Michael advanced his training in Integrative Breathing Therapy taught by renowned osteopath Rosalba Courtney. Now he is able to expand his practice to help patients with conditions related to dysfunctional breathing.

Operating from his clinic in Beechworth Michael now offers in depth assessment of all aspects of breathing; biomechanical, biochemical and psychopysiological dimensions to tailor rehabilitation to suit individual patients. Following assessments patients are then eligible to participate in one on one respiratory rehabilitation programs over 5 weeks to train, restore and optimise breathing habits and respiratory function to help with a wide range of conditions.

Michael is also planning on running general health breathing workshops for groups of up to 10 persons in Beechworth and Yackandadah.

An osteopath is an AHPRA registered health professional (along with chiropractors, physiotherapists, nurses et al) whose expertise centers around the entire musculoskeletal system (joints, bones, muscles, tendons etc), the dysfunctions it encounters and the interrelations it has with all other part of the body such as the peripheral and central nervous system and cardiovascular system.

An osteopath is taught to consider not only the site of the dysfunction (sore lower back for example) but also all of the things that contributed toward getting that dysfunction to begin with and how to avoid it in the future.

Michael uses a gentle and considered approach to manual therapy which he adjust to the needs of the individual patient and whatever condition they are experiencing.

Exercise rehabilitation and ergonomic education is a large part of Michael’s strategy for keep patients healthy and is highly experienced in finding what suits a persons individual needs so that patients can keep improving between consultations.
